Are there any authors of whom you've read all their works? Maybe just the official stuff published during their life? I was just thinking to myself that I haven't done that for any authors. Regrettably I think the author I've read the most of, in terms of raw page count, is JK Rowling. The madness of geniuses only comes after an extended period of manifestation of their genius. Wittgensteins quirks, Kafka's awareness and lack of normal human sentimentality, Gödel's unique paranoia all arrive when genius is combined with knowledge pursuit. Some may have shown some "symptoms" that clash with normalcy, but there is a strict and clear line between the mad and the transcendent.
This slow march towards absolute knowledge is impossible, not because absolute knowledge in of itself is impossible, but because there must be dialecticical progress towards this end. Biological, social and most of all, economical. One can only hope these follow after the big win of post-capitalism, if not we can rest peacfully knowing genius's quality of parasitism is gone.
