Lastly, if you don't have time to read the book, I made a very shitty documentary last year that explains all of the major themes in 4 hours and 20 minutes. You can watch that instead. The first hour starts a bit slow, but it gets more interesting as it goes along. The video is intentionally a bit of a meme, and is less detailed in comparison to the book, but it shows that these drugs were very likely used in the Abrahamic traditions.

Basically I created a 4 hour documentary that demonstrates how Terence McKenna's Mushroom-Cattle-Goddess Religion emerged out of the Sahara, and was practiced in the Bible, with a partially continuous tradition going through Jesus and the Islamic prophet Muhammad. I basically prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that the whole bible is the story of a Psychedelic Mushroom Drug cult, then go on to make some brief mentions about significant events in the 60's. It's a pretty deep analysis that I think is actually pretty good, there's a lot of research that went into this, even though my production quality is kind of low. If you care about this information it's worth your time, I've found some very little known things in my studies that are extremely insightful when it comes to understanding both the bible, and the world of antiquity as a whole.
