Maybe you are right, but some ideas lay themselves open to manipulation better than others. What matters is the consistency and precision of the language, compare something like the French constitution which is basically not completely open to interpretation when it comes to fundamental issues.

Wahhabi preachers and organisations receive funding and support from ultraconservative sunni countries from all over the world. Their rhetoric is derived from Islamic teachings and if it wasn't convincing it wouldn't get this level of support.
