>Most filmgoers have reacted positively to the initiative. "For some people it has been an eye-opener," said Tejle.

>More than 10 film ideas
>Decide to start with a short film script
>Outline the whole thing really, really slowly
>Pseudo ADD kicks in and leave it unfinished
>Some time later decide to continue working on the script
>Write for a while, all I can think of "this is shit, this is so bad"
>Tell myself that I should watch something or continue reading my Tarkovsky or Renoir book to have inspiration
>Dream about making films that will inspire and bring beauty to people
>Realize this might not be for me
>Come to 4chan so people can pity me
Sorry for making this blog post, but I almost know what Salieri felt in Amadeus (expect the fact that he was indeed talented). God gave me this vicious feeling about films and filmmaking, but not the skills to paint like the masters.

I just finished reading House of Leaves. And I must say I'm impressed, impressed as heck!

It was so many things to me, scary, heart wrenching, heart warming, insightful, frivolously deep without comming off as pretentious (can be up for discussion, depending on how you value the metanarritive)
It was at times hilarious, and at times touching. I shed a single (un)manly tear while reading Jonny's letters from his mother

All in all, it was the best book I've read in a while.

Though the german word "Hund" and the french word "chien" both map to the english word "dog", not one of the three mean the same thing.

I grant that this fact obstructs the translation of poetry more than the translation of scientific writing; still, most often a translator really is "coming up with" new words in the target language, which in a loose sense amounts to writing a whole new work.

I'm with OP. To think of translation as a one-to-one conversion disowns the depth of language. Even within your native tongue, finding the perfect word is a dubious process. That's a tough translation to begin with. As the Italians say, ;D "traduttore, traditore."

Source A says line 1
Source A got line 1 from source B
That makes source A and line 1 unreliable and untrue, respectively.
