I do. Oddly enough my actual fanbase is off the internet. I can sell books to people in person, face to face. (I guess having a low/whisper voice helps when selling books dealing with the afterlife.) So that's where most of my sales come from. I just order author copies for a few dollars and then sell them for a few books profit.
My bad habit is I'll buy the entire set and the customer will only want the first book. So then I have to reorder the first book. Just in case someone wants the set.
I only keep two or three copies around the house. I don't want to sink a lot of money into a series that won't move. Nobody has complained about my work at least so I assume people are happy with them, I just work a lot and have very little put-myself-out-there skills. If I ever get fired from my full time job between my investments and my "secret weapon" as one fan calls it, I think I'll be okay. I am not hurting in that category.

It's over half a million words now and they're all ~300 pages full with an 8.50 by 11 trim. I wanna sell my next book as a 99 cent ebook since its my first Romance and it's a one off, so I want people to give me a chance. I've had a lot of trouble reaching people online so if someone slaps me and says HEY. I HAVE AN ACTUAL STRATEGY. I'm very likely to listen, but then there's trust issues, paying them etc. I'm stuck in my shadows, unsure where to move next.
...but out of everyone around me, I'm in the best position. No debt, very few bills and a lot of my investments worked out. I just...need...I can do this...I'm so close...but I have to go to sleep for work tomorrow. There must be a way forward. Unfortunately the thread will likely die before I can participate again. Back to the shadows with me.

5 books. Fantasy/Mythology/Adventure (It's really just exploring the afterlife with the recently deceased protags.) It's all one series. I do self publishing but I don't really make living wages off my books. My advertising efforts aren't really there because I release in parts.
This is why I'm so hesitant about jumping over to Japan. Doing that means really ramping up on advertising BUT...what if that fails you know?
I want 2 more books, Audiobooks and some translations under my belt before I crank it up and try to draw people in.
I make most of my money through stocks and my full time job. It's like 30k a year, but it's really easy and has health insurance. I'd lose that if I went over.
I've written over 750k words but putting myself out there is extremely nerve wracking because I'm severely deaf and my voice just does not carry without a microphone.
I've got this foreboding fear that something like this will happen.

Eventually I'll launch my own site for my series but I'm relying on Amazon for now just because it's so low effort. I just mail in to the library of congress, get my number and pop it up on there and sometimes someone picks the book up and doesn't leave a review. Thanks mysterious people. I hope I made your day.

Meh. Honestly when I first published my first book I contacted every publisher available and my only choices were Vanity Publishing and one publisher that is called Viking Publishing but I had a lot of work going on at the time so I slapped it on Amazon and now I just want to get the words out on paper (at least these next 2) then go back and say hey I've got two complete stories I want to share with the world.
I could make Self Publishing work if I put in the proper keywords and advertised myself but I'm constantly on the grind and can't right now.
I've got money, and my books are available if someone wants to read them.
That's kinda all I wanted really.
Of course, if they did get popular I wouldn't be upset about that.
