Just kill me dead

My dad's an old marxist and really wants to discuss Marx and marxist theory with me. He wants me to read all of Marx' works, including all the footnotes to Capital.

Problem is, I'm currently studying for my law degree (and so am already reading a lot), but I do want to have a good, comfy debate with my old man about the stuff that interests him and that he knows a lot about. Are there any smaller books of Marx' or on marxist theory that are accessible without too needing too much external input or knowledge of other works, and can form the basis for an interesting discussion? Just want to make my dad happy, he has nobody else to discuss these things with, and I might even learn a thing or two.
