My thinking is that he left a lot of threads open purposefully to allow the fans room to speculate, as we like to do. But the ultimate conclusion of TUC is, like I said, quite final in itself.
Kellhus fails. The Ordeal fails. Resumption begins. The world is fucked. That's the narrative he was building since he was a teen, the inversion of the Tolkien myth. Anything that happens after salt and butchery is up to the reader. And I prefer it that way.

That's why I'd much rather see Bakker put out a book of short stories set in Eärwa (I think he was working on this, it's called Atrocity Tales and there are four) instead of The No-God. Explore other parts of the rich and complex world and history.
