I read a few of these - Tartar steppe is among my favorite, a lovely trip into a black void of nothingness, a reflection of our life of meaning that we all love with the depth of our bleak hearts.

I think that The Tartar Steppe by Dino Buzzati is the closest thing when it comes to NEETdom and loneliness. The main character isn't exactly a NEET but when he finally decides to live his life, it's kinda too late for him and he start missing a lot of stuff on his life and everyone around him are already having families, kids, advancing on their careers... The ending is heart breaking and very haunting.

The Tartar Steppe by Dino Buzzati, this is probably one of the most depressive and haunting books that I've read because it makes you reflect about wasting your life and wasting your time and not going anywhere, pretty much like this guy >>15971008 said. I don't get it why I rarely see anyone here talking about this book, the book is kinda monotonous and tedious, but this is kinda the main theme.
