I really don't know to be honest and I actually don't mind the "annoyances" of classic epic poetry to be all that annoying; I just found myself unable to really understand wtf he was talking about most of the time and I know its petty but I wasn't finding hardly any "hard hitting" or memorable lines in his text a la "the wrongs you do to me are wrongs done to the gods" which found early on in book 1 of the Iliad

It gets good when it gets to Jason, Theseus, and Hercules and really fun when going over The Iliad, The Odyssey, and The Aeneid.
So basically, its gets good when it gets to cover good stuff.

Start off by reading whatever the fuck you want until it bores you to tears with the same tropes over and over; then realize you have to get to the root of the issue by delving into philosophy; then come to terms with the fact that anon was right and you should have started with the fucking Greeks.

Why does Greece only care for Hercules when his cousin was much more based?
Was Athens just that much better than Greece as a whole?
