Is there such a thing as a dystopian future novel that isn't just an excuse for the author to spout their political ideologies?

I cant get myself to finish george orwells 1984.
Might have been a great read 60 years ago but now that i have read it like 100 pages its just too boring and I know all the stuff that is going to happen because its basically about our present day. I loved Animal farm tho

I just finished this book. Do you think that Winston really died at the end of it?

I mean, could the bullet be a metaphor? Meaning that the rebel Winston died, but not Winston HIMSELF (since he now loves Big Brother)

Is it just me or is 1984 really overrated? I'm on book two chapter 5 and Orwell is still crawling along with Winston and Julia. There seems to be no end to this one dimensional relationship they have, and it's really starting to read like fan fiction. Someone please tell me it gets better after this.

I read all of this today, it was the first time I cried multiple times reading a book...

I feel depressed... God I've never felt more lonely. Reading both part II with them together, then reading part III, RIGHT after each other is the worst possible thing. I can't even think of anything else, my arms are weak from all this, I'm laughing from how bad I feel right now.

Fuck.
