Are there any contemporary philosophers who write like a 19th century philosopher? All you have today is either beyond autistic analytical philosophers or continental gobbledygook that reads like Derrida. There has to be at least one guy who is keeping the tradition alive

What are some good analytic philosophy books that aren't about language? Seems like all of the great analytic philosophers were only writing about language and sometimes ethics. What are the great analytic works that aren't about language or metaethics?

don't ask me to justify it, I don't read a tonne of philosophy, but Naming and Necessity blew my fucking mind, and my friends who majored phil would go on and on about how he caused a paradigm shift

Is this man the most overrated philosopher of our time? People talk about him like he's fucking Kant, but I'm very underwhelmed by Naming and Necessity. He isn't even as insightful as other analytics like Quine and Carnap.

"Saul Kripke" isn't real. The man known by an*lytics as Saul Kripke is an actor, paid by continental philosophers to humiliate an*lytics by demonstrating how they'll fall for literally anything, any pseudo-philosophy, as long as it's presented autistically and smugly enough. After logical positivism had its asshole devastated, when an*lytics stumbled into babby's first epistemology and were forced to grapple with elementary issues that continental philosophers naturally ponder from childhood, an*lytics started getting cocky about how their "philosophy of language" was revolutionary, unprecedented, despite being a bootleg version of continental hermeneutics (while paradoxically maintaining the positivist love of unjustifiedly hypostatizing random things, like "concepts," "facts," and "propositions," of course).

A few naive and well-meaning continentals who didn't understand how the an*lytic mind works tried to inform the an*lytics that they were rehashing things already said generations prior by Dilthey, James, and a thousand neo-Kantians, a fact well known even to philosophers that an*lytics mistakenly claim as part of their own tradition (from Boole to Sellars). Predictably, the an*lytics only laughed and babbled about this "continental jargon." They mocked "meaningless" statements of the well-meaning continentals, statements like "I'm not even saying you can't hypostatize things before 'deducing truths' about the things you've hypostatized, just explain why you're doing it, or at least admit THAT you're doing it!" and "[if] Philosophy is described as the science of real existence and the research of causes ... I am then compelled to assert that, according to the view of the nature of Philosophy, Logic forms no part of it ... [W]e ought no longer to associate Logic and Metaphysics, but Logic and Mathematics" (George Boole) and "Bertie Russell trying to excogitate what true knowledge means, in the absence of any concrete universe surrounding the knower and the known. Ass!" (William James). As ever, the an*lytics were as insufferable as they were impenetrable.

Seeing the failure of their junior colleagues, the older and wiser continentals hatched a plan. They would concoct the most embarrassing caricature of an*lytic imaginable, with a realism so naive even Herbart wouldn't touch it, and an epistemology so scholastically unreflexive about its givens and their "apodictic" consequences that even Rabelais could not improve on its self-parody. They would condense it into a pamphlet, and hire a vagrant to be its mouthpiece. After some initial debate over candidates, it was decided that an*lytics are in fact so stupid that it wouldn't even be necessary to hire a wizened old man. Everyone immediately knew that an*lytics are in fact so unbelievably that any random parvenu with an 80-page pamphlet discoursing on naive realism could be built up as a philosophical bombshell, as long as a critical threshold of consensus was produced that it was "true."

What am I missing? How is what’s “necessary” not just a re-instantiation of a concept commensurate with something like ‘analyticity’, and therefor subject to Quine’s/Sellars’ critiques?
