lol I don't even really understand what "prose" is. I hate reading the word. Sounds pretentious as fuck.

The books I skipped aren't always due to disliking them. But I did skip Malazan because I couldn't cope with how much the story sounded like a D&D campaign. When I originally said as much, other anons told me that the author really did base his book on a D&D campaign. So I dropped it. I can't get into the story when characters are literally referred to their classes, like "the thief" and "the warrior" etc. It sounds cheap.

I skipped Prince of Nothing for what this anon says >>17534707 (I don't post my list in every thread. I only ask for recommendations periodically. Days or weeks can go by.)
I don't remember why I skipped the black company.

I stand by the fact that Wheel of Time is a good book. It only needed to be edited down. Books 1-5 are great. Then the lull hits at 6.

The gentleman Bastards did have a lot of intrigue. You were just made privy to most of it, since it was told from the perspective of the person perpetrating most of the plots. But then there was the opposite side that Locke couldn't see. Locke was a victim to the intrigues of others. There were secret identities, and plots within plots, and revelations. I'm not saying it was terribly complex. But it was just complex enough to be interesting. The entire story was about factions scamming each other.

Well anyway, what would YOU consider a good read? Don't tell me that Prince of Nothing, Malazan, and The Black Company were the ONLY things you could think to recommend.
