It's a bit tongue in cheek. Rorty is not a fascist, Rorty is not totalitarian. But his philosophy can be redescribed to be one that allows for totalitarianism.

In the above paper, first read 'The Genre of Realism' and then compare that to 'Rorty's Metaphysics'. These two chapters are used to contrast Rorty's philosophy with standard 'analytic' philosophy. See what you make of these two relatively short chapters, and if Rorty's views interest you then I suggest reading Contingency, Irony and Solidarity and then Philosophy and the Mirror of Nature to see where his anti-philosophical disposition derives from.

The greatest part of that article, btw, is when Conant shows Rorty to essentially be agreeing with O'Brien from 1984 and not Winston.

And in some other text Rorty also casually mentions 'A fascist can be a pragmatist' but I forget which text this would be from.

Possibly.

In Atomised it ends on a more asexual and immortal manner. With religions slowly dissipating over time. I wouldn't have expected the ending had a friend not spoiled it for me.

/in re/ I expect things to end differently, things will normalise and no extreme will win.

I'm a philosophy student in the UK. I'm not at Oxbridge and I'm not at a Russel Group university. I'm wasting my life. I'm not going to get a first class honours after getting above 70% in the majority of my work in first year (which does not count to the final grade). I'm still going to be able to go to the masters course I want, but not with a first. This will stay on my record forever and I will feel like a failure. It's not impossible for me to get a first unless I get 75% in all my work from now, which I know I will be unable to do.

Also, I'm a month behind on my dissertation work. I'm so behind with it that I do not know whether I will be able to have time to read on it, which is something I should have been doing last term but I've become lazy after only having six contact hours per week and those being at the start of the week. I'm not working and not even doing anything productive with my time just spending the vast majority of it on Youtube. I'm not even bothered enough to play videogames, which would at least be an interactive way to spend my time. No, instead I spend it all taking in information which I forget after I click on the next video anyway. I never even look at the video anyway, as I'll immediately click off it and find another distraction in the form of a readable medium.

I will probably never be able to cope with the amount of work required from a masters course and either fail abysmally or get such poor grades that I am unable to proceed to a doctorate.

For at least three weeks I have been absolutely angry, the kind of anger that just brews inside you. Adding to that I've been wanting to dominate and humiliate a woman, sexually and physically.

I know for a fact that I would never do that, I have a skelly body and probably couldn't even really hurt someone if I wanted to.

I also ERP'ed out at least a dozen scenarios where I dominated someone.
