I'm trying to write a book about a man with a decade-long obsession over a woman that eventually leads him to rape her in spite of having a perfectly suitable life with a wife and children he loves.

How do I make this character compelling and believable? Are there any other examples of rapist protagonists in literature?

I came from /a/ because someone made me look uneducated in a thread

>Start with Aristotle's poetics, work your way up to Sidney and the Renaissance critics, continue through to Pope and the neoclassics, follow on to Shelley and Wordsworth and the Romantics, and once you've reached at the very least the formalists and new critics of the 20th century you may have an idea of how to critique but I'd still push you onwards to read the post-structuralists

What did he mean by this and how do I counter his point?

I have a confession to make. When I was 14, I read the entire Twilight saga and enjoyed every minute of it

This probably sounds dumb and I know I will be made fun of, but I have this fear that once I pick up a book, I will not be able to focus on the text or understand what's written due to my brain being too damaged from years of mindlessly browsing the internet, exposing myself to useless content and taking psychiatric meds for depression/anxiety. Because of this I tend to put off reading books even if that is really not what I'd like to do. I often get overwhelming anxiety if I sit down to read. My mind starts racing and I get obsessed with thinking that I can't concentrate, that I've ruined my brain, etc.
However, I've already been able to get through relatively big novels, like Thomas Mann's The Magic Mountain and Dostoevsky's Brothers Karamazov. And I've read quite a few books throughout my life, though not as many as I'd like. I was reading War and Peace a few months ago and I was actually enjoying it (I mean, it's not a complicated read), but then this dumb anxiety came back and I put it down.
Idk what to do.

What does he mean by "only its operation remains?"
