Yeah I've never understood how atheists can fall for the "the universe is a computer simulation" idea without seeing the massive hypocrisy and contraditions. How is "the universe is a simulation programmed by a programmer" in any way functionally different from "the universe was intelligently designed by a deity"?

Why is this?
Sure, sometimes you see a caricature of Christianity where they're all le bad and evil inquisitors or whatever, but you never see an honest depiction of monotheistic religion where it plays an important role in virtually everyone's daily life like in history. Or something like the clash between Christianity and Islam in the Crusades.

This is highly paradoxical. One would think surrounding oneself with readers/writers and artists would get one interested in literature and art, but it's been the opposite.

Am I being trolled rn? The far-right movement died at Charlottesville. BLM rioted with impunity and no right-winger response emerged. Trump lost (rigged or not, the right was defeated). The media and tech companies have proven they will crush any right-wing sentiment that emerges. How the the hell is the far-right even a relevant movement (outside of being a boogeyman), much less something mainstream?

Does the term "Gnosticism" even make sense ? It's largely a vague term imposed by modern academics upon the spiritual writings of wierd and mostly unorthodox content. How can anyone call themselves a gnostic if it encompasses so much, from Nag Hammadi to Chinese Manichæanism?

I only browse /lit/ on and off over the years so take this with a grain of salt, but from I've seen you guys only talk about the same books, writers, and ideas. What's the difference between this and psuedo generals on /a/ for example? Not to mention all the self help and rec threads.

Do girls get turned off by guys who are particularly "intense"? I've had a girl call me intense before, and I think it's part of why we stopped talking when she initially seemed really into me. Can women detect that sort of thing, and does it repel them? I'm otherwise pretty handsome and I've been told I'm charming.
