I started reading this year and picked up two history books.
one on history of economics and another one on history of the east indian company
how do I remember shit? like I had systematic thoughts and understanding for the first 2 weeks of so reading these books but after a few days of not reading they just vanished
I am stupid now and my head is empty

but so little time

I read 20 books last year I liked some, didn't like some but my problem is just putting books upon books in my to read list and it grows to such a tragic number that I realize I was putting so many books just for the sake of "looking" cultured or smart
the veteran readers of /lit/ how did you get out of this? how do I read for the interest and enjoyment of it rather than "becoming" a writer or becoming cultured
