Hey /lit/, I'm looking for a good novel that is both postmodern and feminist. Any ideas?

I was recommended this as a classic.

1. Is it a "girly" book? I understand it's about about a female, but will my being a male detract from the experience?

2. Is there a site where you can view the cover of precisely what edition you're getting? You never know with Amazon, and the only book place near me, Borders, is closing.

I've never seen a more accurate depiction of depression in literature. It's also one of the few books I've read that bears numerous rereads.

I'm close to finishing this book put i need some help on the final chapters. Since she's entered the asylum the book has become increasingly more chaotic and confusing which I really enjoy and find to be a pleasant touch. In the third to last chapter she goes to the doctor to get a fitting. What's a fitting??

Hey /lit/ I need your help.
Which one of Sylvia Plath's works should I get?
I was thinking either The Bell Jar or The Colossus.
Opinion?

Just finished this book and loved it.

What else does /lit/ recommend?
And what was /lit/'s opinion on The Bell Jar?

What did/do you think of this book?

About 80 pages in; I've only ever read mirrors by Plath, and listened to a recording of herself reading "Daddy" (?).

I'm really loving this book. I haven't been able to read a book cover to cover in months, this is the first after I read Catcher in the Rye the other night.

Dear /lit/erates, what's /lit/'s opinion on The Bell Jar?
I haven't seen any threads about it. I know you don't like Plath's poetry or maybe it was her personality, but what about this novel and the other short stories she wrote?

I kind of liked it except for all the feminine details given in the first half of the book about the characters' outfits and what not.

Hi /lit/, I just finished reading the bell jar for my english class. I really hate the book, the character is messed up in the head. I'm aware the electroshock therapy didn't help the bitch with her problems. She hates men, but wants to give her virginity. I literally hate this book.

How did I know that someday--at college, in Europe, somewhere, anywhere--the bell jar, with its stifling distortions, wouldn't descend again?

Think Catcher in the Rye, but for girls and not being so whiny.
