I started reading John Dies at the End. I'm pretty sure that I was raised in [undisclosed city]. Is this win or fail?

/lit/,

So I never really paid attention to this book "John Dies at the End" because when I first heard about it, I thought it might be some hipster bullshit that everyone jumps on the bandwagon about. Yesterday a pretty intelligent friend told me he read this book and thought it was great, so now I don't know. So is it hipster bullshit like Palahniuk or is it really something worth reading?

Hey there.

I'm looking for some suggestions for books similar to "John Dies At The End" by David Wong. Can anyone help?

Pic related. I don't want to spoil the end of the book for anyone, but I'll just say it was brilliant.

So it's been made into a movie?

Looks interesting.
What's /lit/'s take on the new trailer?

I read The Oblivion Society by Marcus Alexander Hart. It wasn't an entirely bad book, but there seemed to be some awkward dialogue whenever the characters related to each other--like the author wanted to emphasize the hipness and "nowness" of the characters. I think the author is around 28 or so?

I also downloaded John Dies at the End by David Wong. The book seems to be well written, but I had trouble reading off the screen of my computer, and I don't have an ereader just yet, so I will wait. Young author as well.
