Hi /lit/, I was wondering, which works of fiction have you found so engaging that you've

> re-read them multiple times
> taken notes
> written about them
> read secondary sources about them

or otherwise really worked hard to squeeze as much from them as possible? Let's try to keep away from books you were assigned in school, as that's not really what I'm after (exception made for books you think you would have wanted to study on your own anyway).

For me there's been Ulysses and Pale Fire, and I've recently begun a close re-reading of The Book of the New Sun. In each case an initial reading made it clear that there was a lot I was missing by not devoting a lot of time to searching out references, re-reading passages, etc. What about you?

The Community Bookstore in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. It's hazardous, but wonderful in its own smelly way. That's the owner in the pic.
