Why did you criticize the wager without actually reading Pascal?

Pascal's Pensees. Not only did it convert me to Christianity but it also did away with my negative mindset and suicidal tendencies.

Pascal's wager is the dumbest argument for religious belief ever.

1. It is based on doubt and false belief. To even entertain the concept of a "wager", you are permitting the possibility that there is no God. You are then making a decision based on self-interest. Do you honestly think God is that stupid that he can't tell that people are only "believing" in him out of self-interest?

2. Pascal thought it justified Christian belief. But it can be applied to any religion - Islam, Judaism, Hinduism ... Christianity is not just a belief in a God-figure. Christianity is based on a whole set of doctrines derived from divine revelation. Pascal's wager provides no reason for believing that the writers of the Bible made an accurate record of the revelations of God, or the writers of the Quran, or anyone who claims to know what God's "rules" are.

I'm not here to say religion is dumb or muh atheism, but I think we can all agree, no matter what our position is on religion, that Pascal's wager is fucking bullshit

How do atheists reconcile with Pascal's Wager?
