Why does everyone on this God forsaken board stop at Plato? What is the point of that, anyway. Aristotle wrote some fascinating pieces on logic you could check out.

Prior Analytics anyone? ANYONEEEE??? METAPHYSICA??!! ANYONEEE?

The other day I was considering how similar Game Theory is to Aristotleian syllogisms.

A simple three-person game, that is.

In a three person game you can have three different effective coalitions (1,2) (2,3) and (1,3).

Much in the same way, any of the three Aristotleian syllogisms begins with AB, but the effective means of grouping the thoughts in our brain is developed in a sort of competition. If BC is the victor, then AC follows provided AB is not a particular negation or affirmation.

If CB is the victor then AC follows unless the minor extreme is a negation.

And if AC is victorious in the strategy of the philosopher, then CB will follow, provided the minor extreme is not a negation.

This is very important because the first strategy is obviously more linguistically secure (as the reverse of every syllogism is the same if you invert the letters). The first one creates a syllogism under all conditions provided it’s not particular. In this game, you win no matter which you go with provided your thought is in the coalition (admittedly a 2/3 chance). It’s obviously a good strategy to choose certain logical reasoning over others but the reasoning is important. Is it a negative minor extreme or a specified major? In any case your brain’s ‘strategy’ may be to logically pick the reasoning whenever approached with a relation and you’re unsure of what the winning coalition is. Language itself, as we are told, is varied. So your brain may simply do this as a defense mechanism of criticism of your logic. Hence why reasoning syntax, and modal propositional logic varies depending on the whim of the logician.

Aristotle is for patricians

Plato is for brainlets

Understanding both is completely necessary however.

This will be a fun game. Let’s try to make a literature related activity.

Which do you think is a more logical sequence of Aristotleian modal propositions, /lit/?

Sequence ONE:

1
It is possible to be
It may happen to be
It is not impossible to be
It is not necessary to be.
2
It is possible not to be.
It may happen not to be.
It is not impossible not to be.
It is not necessary not to be.
3
It is not possible to be.
It may not happen to be
It is impossible to be
It is necessary not to be
4
It is not possible not to be
It may happen not to be
It is impossible not to be
It is necessary to be

Sequence TWO:
1
It is necessary to be.
It is not possible not to be.
It may not happen not to be.
It is impossible not to be.
2
It is necessary not to be
It is not possible to be
It may not happen to be
It is impossible to be
3
It is not necessary to be
It is possible not to be
It may happen not to be
It is impossible not to be
4
It is not necessary not to be
It is possible to be
It may happen to be
It is not impossible to be

I was wondering if I should get the French "Aristote: Oeuvres Completes" or the English "Complete Works of Aristotle". Any comments by someone who has either seen them both or is familiar with both french and english translation habits would be quite welcome. Any other comments on translations or particular works in their translation are also welcome.

Why does Aristotle continue to be accorded any respect in his profession as-such? Even Plato was better.

>the Cuttlefish does what I think it does because I say so and not on account of any detailed analyses that I have done
>thicc black women do not achieve orgasm, I know because I have checked
>Muh Elements

What are some things that Aristotle actually got right? Why should he not be committed to the flames?
