Alright I'm just going to read all of them then, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just on the list for historical significance.

I'll probably skip Xenophon, but I'm pretty much going to read everything else on this list that I haven't gotten to already.

Descartes and Leibniz should be added to your philosophy section as prerequisites.

I like to image connection nodes set up between groups within cities as well as outside of cities that play and relay drum beats with amost zero latency so that streets can march to the actual same beat. It would be tricky to set up, but not impossible. Creating a presence of protest within the home while being able to add you zero latency feed to the drum in protest stations across the feeds.

Position hubs to encourage movements, rally and produce dissonance. Test the fragility of self-networked tech in order that sentiment is combined, a language is created and spirit intensifies as reactions start coming in. Brace the access points with outside condemnation in the form of music to garner enthusiastic responses, more (x) to larger areas, no agency, no centre, bakki delirium before the prince is walked off to the forest.

Hi /lit/,

I want to start reading the Greeks. Which book(s) should I get to learn more about the history of ancient Greece? A chart states A Brief History of Ancient Greece by Pomoroy as a good start. That book cost 40$ tho, is it worth the buck or are there other works good too?

Thanks in advance!

I want to recreate something like the Iliad, and I do not want to damn it, but sanctify it, give it some space to occupy, but not give up the space where my beautiful temple will be built. How do I stay within the parameters of coherence and yet point to how beatiful the clouds are today, wafting down the slipstream airly dazy going shadow to eye in front of my sunniness, neediness Apollo baby god's toy chariot racing no longer playful but sacred to mother's green graciousness?

I have a problem with going towards this:

But I esteem the classical beyond measure, beyond what I know, and I'd like to, not do it justice, but give it at least a reflection of the canon blast, the shoreline awaiting Neapolitan liberators.

How should someone recite an ancient Greek poem that has been translated? How should the accompaniment be, like a single stroked chord or can I try melody, and then do I strike out for old Greek melody?

Curious to hear what you all would be interested hearing if I were to attempt something for a lark. I've got a hankering for some project like this to get my feet wet and my hands sticky.

This and another Start With The Greeks chart is on the wiki which are also very helpful. I've been using them to craft my own way.
Personally getting their beliefs and myths under my belt and a history of Greece itself so I have a timeline to pinpoint the different texts on is what I'm doing at the moment before I actually jump into the Iliad or any of the like. Studying poetry a bit too since I have no understanding of it, although I'm pretty sure the rhythm and meter of Greek poetry doesn't survive the translation. I may be wrong though, I'm a pleb.

What would you have be on it? We could design one here.
The only Hindu texts I know about are the Rigveda, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and the Arthashatra, and I have no idea what order I would put those in.

Yes and no. Just read C. Paglia's Sexual Personae and then explore her ideas about other mediums. Her understanding is informed by contemporary media and her ability to find patterns in the cannon wouldn't exist without her passions. So if you don't have passion to acquire a subject to study, you should follow intuitions in choosing random books until what unifies them, what stands out to you, makes apparent what you can then focus on.

But what the fuck is "serious reading" anyway? Doesn't that just smack of wowie marginalia and check-marked book lists?

You want to be a serious reader, you go into logic and, while you're in logic, you get inside entomology, you pick up a magnifying glass and look for the queen, you make certain you're not burning her if the suns too bright, and then you open up a rhetoric book and wack, you smush her highness together and look at her insides which you read like an ink blot. What comes out is logic, if then, sentence by sentence, a history of sacred Word through an investigation of early dictionaries, then smack the rhetoric over your head, contemporary business letter type, and bob's your uncle.
