When I was at uni I watched a girl who had severe anxiety issues because of childhood trauma (sexual) go from being a shut in who only dated pasty, skinny nerds to a complete slut who would cheat on those guys with ape men. Each guy she dated at first boosted her confidence around men until she clearly felt they weren't a threat any more and was happy to abuse that.
