This is partly a result of the general decline of our culture, but partly also owed simply to the death of literature. STEM is not like this. This is a bullshit strawman btw, to my knowledge Abrahamic religions are the only ones that dare claim to be the single path to salvation. European pagans, Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists etc. all acknowledge the possibility for multiple paths.

having to deal with bureaucracy makes me want to end my life on the spot. I was not born to fill out fucking forms and attend meetings that last hours in which fuck all gets done. BUREAUCRACY IS A FUCKING NIGHTMARE.

Not the last lines of the whole book, but of one section in particular. Really resonated with me. I grew up in New York City and it used to have such a vibrant culture. Its lost its soul.
