I literally understood nothing. English is not my mother tongue and the translation was kinda archaic. Every other sentence had thy or thee in it and it immediately pulled me out because i wanted to read it as you but my little brain was unable to transform as i read. also there were lots of words i didnt know its meaning and i didnt bother to look them up.
If anyone knows any modern translation I'd like to try to read it again. I'm also more familiar with philosopy books now compared to then when i first read this book.

In his Meditations he wrote about how we all die in the end and we should just be nice to each other. But could it not be argued because our actions do not matter in the end we could be selfish and cruel to others? He says that fame, wealth, pleasure will all be no longer tangible in death in the end. So could we say the same about causing pain to others? In the end any cruelty and suffering we cause to others will be gone with death.

I'm a pseud that only passed Latin class with the bare minimum. What's the best translation of Marcus Aurelius' Meditation?
My local bookstore only has the Hays one.

Sounds like you still haven't grasped that happiness isn't hidden in another soul, but in yours
Embrace your solitude, there is nothing wrong with sharing the world with yourself
Anything convincing you to the contrary is noise
You may eventually share your life with other people intimately but that will never substitute the happiness you must seek by accepting yourself and knowing you are not wrong for existing the way you do
