Last year I fell in love with Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-five, but are any of his other works worth the read? I’m currently reading Cat’s Cradle and just curious as to when I’ll become enthralled in it.

>Reality is futile so mankind creates pretty lies to help itself cope, but deep down it knows its own foolishness and inability to control its fate
So this was just existentialism-lite for the impotent with a whole lot of daddy issues mixed in?
An aside:
>Cold War
>Nuclear winter
>Ice-9

It's NOT Cat's Cradle. It was a sci-fi book about a civilization that all practiced a religion they explicitly knew to be false, because they had confirmed that practicing the religion's rituals and following its rules simply led to civilization functioning better. I think it took place on an alien planet, but I could be wrong.

So were the Hoenikker siblings his cousins? I feel I missed something with the statue subplot.

I just finished Cat's Cradle and I really liked it. There's no coherent plot or a tight ending - but neither does real life sometimes, so it's closer to a roller coaster experience.

I'm going to start The Sirens of Titan next.

Thoughts on Cat's Cradle?
Is Bokononism the way to go?
