Anon you go to hell if you dont believe that Christ died for you. Meditation by itself will not damn you. My headspace is pretty good anon specially because I read my kjv Bible everyday.

I'm sick of not believing in anything but I don't know how to escape my nihilistic worldview. I've been an atheist all my life (born in the former Eastern Bloc) ranging from edgy mocking of religion in my teenage years to arrogant indifference in my later years. However, in the last couple of years I often catch myself thinking that a lot of my problems would be solved if I just started believing in God. What keeps me from just going to church and straight up talking to a priest is my general distaste for authority and the general wackiness of current Christianity. I'm afraid of just receiving orders on what to do and what not to do by a system which only derives power from people's need for spiritual guidance and not from a real connection to the divine. I want the real stuff and not some other spook.
Are there books that can guide me? I've read that Mere Christianity by CS Lewis is good. Is it? I also started reading the Bible but to me those are just old stories and nothing more.
