I would like to pose a question to any poets lurking about /lit/.

I'm making my way into the boston poetry scene and going to local readings and open mics.

I usually have about enough time to read two pages (or usually 2 short poems). I usually pick one original piece to read and open with a favorite poet of mine's piece. For my first reading I read a bit of Ginsberg, and the second, John Berryman. Both got great feedback from the audience and I would like to continue to spread the work of my inspirations.... but unfortunately, being new to poetry in general, I'm not incredibly well read. Does anyone have any favorite poets or poems I should look into for my readings? Or in general?

ALLEN GINSBERG: MOST HATED MAN ON /lit/?

Even Kerouac and Burroughs don't get the kind of hate Ginsberg does here..... why so much hate for my favorite poet?
