>Wittgenstein's religious belief emerged during his service for the Austrian army in World War I, and he was a devoted reader of Dostoevsky's and Tolstoy's religious writings. He viewed his wartime experiences as a trial in which he strived to conform to the will of God, and in a journal entry from 29 April 1915, he writes:
>"Perhaps the nearness of death will bring me the light of life. May God enlighten me. I am a worm, but through God I become a man. God be with me. Amen."

Is there any relationship between Wittgenstein's works (Tractatus and PI) and the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis?

Can someone explain the current state of philosophy to me? Is it as dead a field as the memes say it is? I know that philosophy has it's own merits and I'm just curious as to how it's going in the 21st century after Wittgenstein and Co. basically tore it a new asshole. From what I can tell, it seems like either a bunch of mathematical autism that goes nowhere, or hand wavy bs that no one takes seriously.

Of course such a notion is subjective, but whenever the question is asked.."Who was the greatest...or who was the most impactful/influential philosopher of the 20th century"

the general consensus tends to be This guy or Heidegger...

why is this? what did he do?

That bitch is 100% certain related to Wittgenstein. Look at that soulful yet autistic gaze. It's eerily alike.

Heidegger's philosophy of time is just a mild re-imagining of Husserl, his being is just poorly written existentialism (Mostly Kierkegaard).

If you're going to read 20th century philosophy don't waste your time with the losing side.

Is it necessary to read the Tractatus to understand Wittgenstein's ideas? I heard that he refutes a lot of his previous arguments in the Philosophical Investigations. Also, what should I have read before reading Witt in order to understand him? How much logic should I know?
