what child would really be able to relate to any of the struggles the characters go through in this book?

what child cares about the death of the American dream?

When I was in high school we had a French exchange student who had a thick French accent. In our English class we were supposed to read a book and give a report on it to the class. He chose Of Mice and Men and when he is talking about Curley's wife he says "Zhe was, as you say, a zlut" and we all burst out laughing. It was very funny.

This book is dumb, it has no real conflict or villain (maybe that midget guy) and the ending is stupid. Why didn't George and Lennie just fight the townsfolk? Why didn't they fight the Great Depression? That would've been cool IMO
