Only a small percentage of society can ACTUALLY read, that is to say, read and understand fully what they're reading.

I’ve already seen everything worthwhile that cinema as a medium has to offer, so I’m leaving /tv/ and migrating to /lit/.

What should be my first novel to start this journey in literature? Apart from high school level stuff like Moby-Dick and Jack London I haven’t really read anything, so be gentle please :)
