Give me 1(one) reason why you haven't read the Three Body Problem. These are the best sci-fi books post 2000s.

I've read awful reviews, and reading the first pages didn't convince me otherwise

I did, and I'm happy everybody hates it because I like it when people are deprived of good things.

It's really quite fantastic. A wonderful breath of fresh air amongst the stagnant shit of contemporary sci-fi. the later parts of the trilogy are the most interesting.

Yeah, 3-Body is the worst one, but you wouldn't know that unless you read the rest because it's on its own better than 90% of the trash I read last year.

re-reading it nao, but jesus christ i get tired of chinese authors whining about the cultural revolution.

it's like that one Iranian woman in our short story class. she would begin by asking an off-topic question and then turn it into a forty minute rant about how the great and noble Iranian people were betrayed by.. well, she wasn't very clear on that. but she was passionate. bitch would NOT shut up, and the classes only ran for fifty minutes.

stopped a quarter of the way through...
Everything feels so forced, the story is so obviously created for the narrative, the same way that a spooky campfire story is.

Literature is simply incompatible with Eastern written languages, and I think people who learn eastern langauges as their first language have an inability to process literature in the same sense that we can.

I get that it's not about the cultural revolution but at this point if I read a synopsis of a Chinese novel and it has "cultural revolution" in it, it kills all my interest.
