What's wrong with Pewdiepie reviewing books? He's introducing new people to literature. Literature was never meant to be some secret special club for aloof losers.

If Pewdiepie reviewing Mishima (who is a hugely important author) is enough for you to disregard Mishima entirely, why the fuck do you bother reading in the first place? What are you getting from these books apart from a false sense of superiority?

What the fuck is even your point? If you want to have a movie or a game to have the same level of influence and permanence as say, Don Quixote, you better travel to 2500 and see what people are playing / watching, because right now both mediums are extremely young and even then you have shit like Doom or Citizen Kane who are universally regarded as golden moments in their respective mediums even by people who don't usually engage with those.

This means nothing if you don't take "novel", "film" an "game" to be qualitative terms instead of purely descriptive ones. Of course you can't compare a game to a novel, you can't compare a game to an orange either. Doom is a great game by any standards, but it's not a good work of art. I nominate Tetris as the best artwork the medium has to offer, but I wouldn't hold it up against Proust or anything.

>> No.11269161

>>11269140
I don't even think games should be thought of as art, and you're missing my point. Great games exist, great films exist, great books exist, but comparing them to each other is a disservice to every medium. Once again, you're making qualitative judgements about a whole medium, as if the form of a work somehow is more important than how said medium uses it.
Games can do things Proust can't, and movies can do things neither Doom nor Proust can, and so on. You just want to conside novels a more worthy medium than games because you think you're better than "gamers" because you read novels. I don't think videogames are without their charge of problem, but putting the medium in a inferior standard is the same as decrying movies because Uwe Boll exists or books because JK Rowling exists.

>I've seen exactly ONE Pewdiepie video in my life, he was talking about Hollow Knight and the man is shit at critically analyzing even a fucking fotm metroidvania, how well will he fare in, idk, Moby Dick?

He reviewed Moby Dick and even straight up admitted that he wasn't completely ready for that, but that he enjoyed it and would get back to it in the future.

You're absolutely right, I'm not a fan of his at all and I mostly ignore him, but right now he's doing something legit and should get credit for it.

He is closeted. He can't be open about it obviously. He has Nazi shit in like 12 videos. He said nigger on stream. He keeps calling people cucks. You have to be retarded to think he isn't at least alt right sympathizer. Saying cuck to me is the part that makes it obvious. I've only seen 12 year old alt right edgy kids say cuck.

If I started wearing dark clothes, posting Stalin imagery, and calling people bourgeois and talking about workers. what would you think?

this isn’t true ive checked the archive, quality of discourse was significantly higher. noticable influx of people whose reading comes from reading 4chan, reddit and discord chats. noticable influx of /pol/ and /leftypol/ converts from normalfag hives like YouTube and Reddit. In fact i would say most of the original posters just lurk or don’t post at all anymore

I joke about niggers, Nazi shit, bourgies, wear dark clothes and post Stalinist imagery everyday. Everyone who doesn't attend community college in Portland and have a faggot stick up their ass does this. It's perfectly normal to joke about and discuss different political ideas without breaking down in tears over no-no words like all you brainwashed idpol weirdos.

The only good chapters in this book are batemans music reviews, his drug trips, the date with his secretary and any other instance of him not being in control of his surroundings.

Newsflash, I still play vidya and I would still read comics if they hadn't gotten so fucking cancerous as a genre the past few years. I still read BDs, I guess.

Where did I say I suddenly became a disdainful asshole because I started reading old books? The lesson was that I had a prof who wasn't a judgemental prick.

You're projecting your snobbish disdain onto others.

Also, God forbid someone learn something at college. What unholy faggotry.
