Utilitarianism is not just shit, it’s genuinely corrosive and evil. A modern obsession with practicality, efficiency, “utility”, is deadening the soul and turning man into a robot. The nihilism, secularism, and spiritual stagnancy of the modern day can be traced to a disgusting ideology of technocratic utilitarianism and scientism. No point in anything unless it contributes to scientific and technological progress which contributes to the good of humanity! (However the hell you want to define that). There needs to be a huge movement against scientism and utilitarianism. Humanity is becoming genuinely bug-like or robot-like. We need a neo-Romanticism, a movement accepting and appreciating emotions and irrationality before fascists and/or religious wackos monopolize the minds of the people discontented with the soullessness of the modern culture of the West.

That's an appeal to the stone fallacy. You can't simply point at something and say it's wrong, you need to prove it's wrong.

Furthermore, while agreeing with you in the short term would generate more happiness, utilitarianism tries to take into account all pleasure and all pain.

So for example, eating a cake might make me feel good in the short term, however it would cause more pain because I would be sad due to the effects of the fatness, the ugliness and unhealthiness associated with having eaten that cake.

Similarly, while it would superficially bring about more happiness to agree with the majority history has shown this is not the case. Many time have the majority been wrong and it has taken someone with a good argument (and time) to prove them wrong and, in doing so, advance the cause of human science and ethics.
