I love to imagine various scenarios about how a hypothetical mars colony might be architected.
I think there is a huge liability for mental illness becoming a burden on the colony. Mars is not a welcoming place and it can kill you very easily.

It's also subject to extreme weather that makes most most storms on earth look like childsplay. So most conventional buildings have to be redesigned. You'd probably want to build underground.

In terms of social structure, it really depends on who moves there. Will it be jaded superrich? Are they really prepared to leave behind earth for an extremely hash living environment? Will it mostly be scientists and engineers? If so, direct democracy makes a lot more sense.

What kind of logistics do you need to maintain a mars colony? What kind of supply chain and technology? Honestly you could do better trying to find a better planet to colonize.

Out of all memes, this is my least favorite.
Not being a dogmatic ideologue isn't some unique trait requiring its own label. It is a basic feature of being a halfway decent and informed human being.
Very few people actually believe literally everything you'd find on the Wikipedia page of any given -ism. Humans are complex creatures, and we generally tend to hold different (often contradicting) beliefs. Pretty much EVERYONE are radical centrist, whether they are aware of it or not.
It's doubly insulting when, in practice, 90% of self-described "radical centrists" just end up being Sworn Defender Knights of the Status Quo, complete with "Social Liberal" neoliberal policy prescriptions.

Yeah and it requires trickery and accountings of exception to deal with the law. There is just so much corruption opportunity to his model.

This is the equivalent of saying he's got it all wrong with his science and that we should be making rockets with simple math and let the people decide the design via referendum. Freedom.

Meme as in "Savior of the Planet " that you hear from /sci/
I worked with solar energy for remote applications; while it's good for staying off the grid; sacrifices need to be made to sastify power consumption. Need to store all the energy that isn't powered by the randomness of nature.
Energy storage requires a lot of space for a typical house.
Batteries and solar panels are not that great for the environment.
If the purpose of green energy is to save the environment, then it fails it's purpose.
If you want to limit the power consumption to use a rewenable source, then go ahead, be a vegan hippie w/e.
The stances for "climate change" are often very misleading and unsubstantiated due to such a small scale sample of results.

To replace our current power needs using rewenable energy can be done in theory, but you'll end up doing so much damage to the environment (mining for resources and labor installations), and spend so much money, there be no point if you cared about the environment.
People will say we are plantet haters, but that's not true.

You're right. The "trickery" is precisely in making laws not "long" enough. Circumstances are generally so complicated, so specific, and the law generally so simple and so general, that you require lawyers to plead your case, and courts to offer interpretation. So you end up having a substantial amount of "case law" anyway, even if the laws you established were "short."
