the only good 40k books are the first two, Space Marine and Inquisitor, which are pretty good reads even if you dont give a hoot about 40k. and thats only because they are written by a actualy, real author that has written "real" books before that instead of some punk who grew up playing with 40k and can now publish his glorified fan-fic.

That's the thing. Warhammer isn't good for the wargaming hobby. Games Workshop's monopolistic business practices are immoral. Their models are so overpriced that it's honestly exploitative of the consumer. Historical wargaming costs, what, 10% building a Warhammer army costs? Warhammer is so expensive that they've driven up the prices of other games.

And the setting is just bad 1980s fantasy mixed with bad 1980s science fiction. Even as far as pulp settings go, it's trash. And I'm not unfamiliar with the universe. I've read the game books and codexes and Forgeworld books and watched a ton of those lore videos on YouTube, because I'm a fan of science fiction and was morbidly curious.

Warhammer was originally meant to appeal to eleven old boys, but there's middle aged men playing it. And that's fine, but now Games Workshop are kiddifying the IP and sanitizing it for the SJWs, making it completely sterile. Not even eleven year old boys will want to know. The fanbase is going to dwindle to nothing and unmarried thirty year old alt lifestyle freakazoids in problem glasses with the sides of their heads shaved are going to take over, while Games Workshop is going to ban all the relatively normal middle aged men who just happen to have trash taste their stores stores for toxic masculinity or whatever.

You can say it's fun, but so is gambling or shooting up heroin, and I wouldn't recommend those hobbies to anyone either. Stop wasting your money. Go outside and get some sun. The ship is sinking. Get out while you can
