Is American Psycho (the book) as funny as American Psycho (the movie)?

It's not as good. Deliberately repetitive etc. A lot more gore than the movie though, you might be surprised when you read it.

not as funny, but thing about the nigger poem is the only time ive ever laughed out loud reading

I much prefer the book. Christian bale did the character the absolute best justice, but much was lost in transition.

The movie is better.

I'm just making threads with this trip.

The book is much funnier, imo, but becomes even better having seen the movie already. Reading everything in Christian Bale's voice makes it quite entertaining.
Pretty great film, but honestly I don't see how anyone could prefer it

The book has more gruesome scenes. The scenes are also more absurd bordering on funny.
That mace scene, jesus.

HAHA look at me! Isn't this book so wacky!

Yes. The absurdity of the engagement with the police is greatly expanded upon, among other things.

The book is objectively superior to the movie

I hated them both, but in different ways.

i hate when the book cuts out midway through saying something i thought my PDF was bad so i googled and it turns out it was intentional so that was creative but a big scare

The book is the movie times 10
More killings, more social etiquette, more unnecessarily expensive clothing and more music ramblings.
If you liked the movie read the book, it's just more of what you liked. For example Price leaves at one point and comes back and that is very important yo to understand the ending.

Much funnier. A lot more psychological depth too; it reminds me Notes from the Underground in some ways.

Also check out the musical. Songs are amazing.

The best is when he feeds his date the chocolate-covered mint urinal cake. Absolutely gut-busting, black comedy at its finest.

Its very good but I wouldn't call it as good as the movie whilst it has a lot more of everything than the movie and is far funnier, the movie definitely benefited from being time constrained and more concise

I rewatched the film very recently. It's definitely not as cool or even as good as I remembered it.

His absurdly long phone call with his "friends" and his date with his ex-girlfriend from college are some of the funniest things I've read in my life. It makes sense they didn't include it in the film though, the book is a lot more episodic.
