Middle Age kings would need some bullshit claims about land and faith and some bureocracy but it could be done. Not even the most powerful billionaire today could get away with such thing, that is because even they are slaves to the oversocialization, that is, if a billionaire chooses to get a private army and wipe out African tribes he will get legal and societal backlash and essentialy lose all his fortune and power. It doesn't necessarily means that power is happiness, but powerlessness certainly is unhapiness.

You feel miserable because it feels as if nothing that you do matters, and it doesn't, because the world is changing too quickly and is too big, so the only way to feel as if it really matters is if you give up on society, go live alone, there, only you and nature matters, you'll have to learn how to plan your crops, use the sun and the woods to your advantage, fight with animals and finally be the star of your own movie, in a movie that it actually matters, because if you lose, like calculating wrong your crops, you'll starve to death, be weak and get killed by a bear, be unnatentive and die by infections, be unvigilant and get caught by the yellows.

Yeah narcissism is probably THE biggest issue with surviving and even thriving in today’s world. Some pathological narcissists, in positions of power, who also command respect, but who don’t deserve either (some professors), can be demons. If you challenge them they can and very well might actually ruin your life if you’re in the wrong position at the time. Either with beaucratic or emotional power plays

It’s psychologically dangerous to deal with them before you’ve individuated; they can plant seeds of narcissism that can grow if unchecked. But no plant that finds itself in foreign soil can’t be eradicated.

Art is an answer, or pure artistic process; it’s a genuine process of self exploring actualization.

Narcissism is also one of the subtler words in English. It’s a dense word. It’s more than just the psychological definition. It can invade your a priori relationship with yourself. I mean that it can fundamentally alter the way you perceive yourself, so it can be hard to identify. Thats why we need friends. But it’s also hard to know who to trust, people call people narcissists a lot and it fucks with the definition of the word. So good educated friends are necessary.

Essentially narcissists don’t really relate to themselves. They don’t have a self relationship because they dont see themselves from their own subjective perspective. They live through the way other people perceive them. Which is images. If you for example run 6 days a week, you might call yourself a “runner”. But you’re not a runner to yourself, you’re you. Part of being human is running. There aren’t “runners” or “cyclists” or “people who don’t exercise” there are only people.

It’s other people who brand you as a runner. In part because narcissism, but also because you’re an object to their subject. So if you get caught living through the eyes of others who necessarily objectify you because you aren’t they, you lose your subject-to-subject, self-reflecting relationship to your self, if you see what I mean there.

It’s a real problem because most people think like this and so we are raised looking at things with language framing things in this way.

The momentary experience of you, the you in this now, is not exactly definable. I’m not a musician, or an artist, or a shit poster, or even a man really. I’m just a being in time. So the workaround for narcissism, that relationship-to-the-world narcissism, is to essentially look deep within, to your most prior essence. The fundamental quality that defines your existence. Finding this and keeping it, organizing your life around it—this is your purpose and soul, is the trick. Then even with constant pressure from being surrounded by and forced to combat these monsters of the soul, you can both continually relate to your true self, and receive the energy to continue moving forward despite constant pressure forcing you to become unlike yourself.

The density of the moment bit is once you find what to do that is self actualizing you then work to increase the vivacity of your relationship to this and to life through it. This is all done through activities whether that is meditating, swimming, kayaking, performance art, Plato’s contemplation of The Good, Hegels “thinking about thinking”, going on a walk, what is colloquially known as the “flow state”, talking to people, flirting, sex, doing the dishes, anything.

When you’re running you can either be thinking about a bunch of random bullshit or you can be running. How deep can you get into whatever it is you’re doing right at this moment is increasing the density of your relationship to the now. You can completely lose yourself and merge entirely with motion. When this is your primary mode of being, you will have transcended the narcissistic experience.
