The setting of this book is really confusing me. I can't tell when they're in some underground tunnels, in a sewer, above ground in rl London, or in some weird alternate version of London that's underground. I'm really enjoying it, but I feel like I'm missing something obvious. For example, when they were in the floating market, where they actually in the rl Harrods store or some alternate reality version? Cans someone explain? Just barely finished chapter 5 where Richard meets up with Door.

Never read the book, but I did see the TV series. Mediocre at best.

i'm over gaiman. he did sandman, which was okay, and then seriously wore out his welcome. nothing he's done has really been that great.

American Gods and Anansi Boy are great.

I for one, love Neverwhere, so I'll help OP out.

They really were in Harrods. Most of the people in the book are "tramps" but no-one notices them once they've entered the "other" world. It's a bit of a transparent stab at how people ignore the homeless in major cities.

nah. i mean, everybody's taste is different, but i tried American Gods and was really unimpressed.

I'm pretty sure the whole "magic and otherworldly" thing was to avoid glamourising homelessness.

When Richard started crying, I felt like crying too. =(

I'm having a really hard time finding a complete version of that. I might just try to download it.

As far as obscure Gaiman comic stories go, definitely check out his one-shot Batman story too.

Anansi Boys > American Gods

If you didn't like American Gods, go read Anansi Boys. It's funny and it doesn't droll on like AG.
