audiobooks vs reading

What say you?

With audiobooks I could listen to way more stuff that I wouldn't otherwise have time to read. I realize it's not exactly the same, but those the extra volume of stuff I can take in make up for it?

>> No.1389209

I feel like my comprehension drops when I listen to a story, as opposed to reading it. Things are much less vividly remembered.

>> No.1389222

I love audiobooks because they remind me of the time my father used to read to me
Plus there are some great voice actors around

Both at once, two books in the time it takes to read one

Not very impressive, you're not taking advantage of having two eyes. I personally read a book with each eye, listen to a book, and move my fingers and toes through brail. I read about 100 books a week.

Not very impressive, i also leave headphones on me when i go sleeping so i can comprehend sounds subconsciousy.
I read 235 books weekly

>> No.1389242

I listen to a lot of audiobooks while I work, but I usually end up reading the book i've listened to afterwards because I feel I lost focus while listening.

But theres benefit in that.

I'm not impressed.

I can do all of those things on coke with the audio on fast forward AND read some extra braille with my feet.

Read about 344 books a week.

I'm not impressed I can just read the summaries on wikipedia.

Not very impressive, I also use my penis to read braille so I can read while I'm jerking off (into the book).
I read 260 books weekly

Not Impressed, I can do all that while reading brail with my dick.

I'm not impressed. I just act like I know the book being discussed.

Read as many books as discussed in a week.

well that just sounds freudian

I'm not impressed I just say "books are for fags" and watch TV

>> No.1389255

I wouldn't have gotten all the way through Wheel of Time without audiobooks, but for more complex works I tend to miss out on a lot if I don't pay full attention -which I find hard to do with audiobooks.

Overall I'd say I listen to 3 audiobooks for every book I read though so that kind of says something.

>> No.1389256

I find it difficult to stay focused whilst listening to audiobooks and I often start thinking about other things, missing huge chunks of the story at a time. I'd much rather read.

Sometimes i use audio books to relax, but for actual comprehension I prefer text books.

Not very impressive, I take off all my clothes and start humping and ejaculating into a pile of books.
I read 421 books weekly

it's like comparing movies and books...both have stories to tell, different mediums.

>> No.1389272

Not very impressive, I pound my dick into a trained chicken while rubbing books against my hungry nipples.

I read 0 books a week.

not really I mean if you were comparing radio-plays to books sure, but an audio book is still a book, possessing the same content just different delivery. whereas a movie by its design conveys sensory experience that cannot be replicated by word alone.

>> No.1389300

OP, it seriously isn't a big deal. Listen to some audioooks. If it works for you, great. If not, fuck it. Nobody who matters is going to judge you for listening to audiobooks.

Anyway, I use both formats. I like them equally, though for different reasons. Audiobooks are great for when I'm driving, for example, and paper books are great for when I have down time.

>Not very impressive, I reenact the movie The Human Centipede, feeding them only classics, causing them to shit the contents of the book to the next person and so on.
I read 1000 books a week.

I read 0 books a week.

----Absolutely fantastic tier----
Audio books with a full cast, really more like a radio play.

-----I guess this is okay tier-----
One person reading a book, but doing different voices for characters.

-----MISERABLE FAILURE TIER-----
Audio books with one person reading the story in monotone

I listened to one where they forgot to edit out the reader's mistakes. There were places where the guy was like, "okay, I'm gonna do that again" or where he messed up and just repeated the whole sentence from the beginning.
I can't decide if it was stupid or awesome.

Depends. If I wanted to actually read the book, I'd be pissed.

If I didn't really care, I'd think it was hilarious.

What book was it?

The Spanish translation of The Shack. One of the worst books ever written. I only got it to improve my Spanish listening comprehension.
It made me wish I didn't understand Spanish.

Oh god. I'm sorry.

I've never read it, but it has been damn popular for the last three years. I've been told that to non-religious people it actually comes of as extremely creepy for some reason or some shit.
