God's "personality" is just a facet of him of which we know very little save for what He has revealed to us or told us. To define God's personality would be almost like 2 dimensional figures saying that a three dimensional figure is two dimensional. They are partially true because a 3d figure has facets that can be looked at as 2 dimensional but not entirely true (TLDR: a texture map)

Just imagine it like this: You are God, let's say. You create a universe just for fun. You are still a being in and of yourself, though what you've created are not likely to fully understand what you are and how you work: even you barely do. The things you created act like assholes and not at all like what you want them to do. You'd likely get a little pissed at this point.
There's no reason a creator would have a personality. They would just happen to.

If a creator made all being, then by definition he must be more than his creation.
It isn't possible to create more than yourself. Some would probably argue that its impossible to create something equivalent to yourself.
As such God probably is not only a person, but a person on a level we can' t even conceive of.

Everything exists in parallel realities out of a basic emanation from nonexistence (nihilo). Nihilo is the blank canvas onto which reality is projected, but Nihilo can only serve this fundamental role by contrasting itself symmetrically with all the iterated realities on top of it. So everything is real, but nothing is realer.

One cannot create what has not already been begotten. A personality is merely a figment, a mere titillatIng tale that one weaves and spins in order to entrap the hearts of those he wishes to affiliate with. Is it wrong? Well it may be, but so is atrophying away in your chair as the working man pays taxes to his minister. What I’m trying to say here is this; you shouldn’t be worrying yourself to the if, but to the why.

The ultimate creator is nothing but a disturbance along a line. Nothingness can be represented as a continual flat line, and existence is an oscillation along that line. Whatever sets the notion of oscillation is irrelevant, as it has already happened and continues to happen until the inevitable decay of the universe we exist in. Thereby, the universe only seeks its continued existence. This manifests in more complex and evolved states of existence, leading up to the point we currently experience now, with humans being the most complex form (that we know of).

Humans are simply the tool existence used in order to further perpetuate itself so that it can create another universe in which it escapes its inevitable death, ad infinitum.
>what started this? why does something exist at all?
Coincidence, chance, luck. That is the only true form of randomity: the random possibility that something could exist. Now, out of fear of non-existence, existence is spelt out to forever continue its race ahead of the curve.
