Nietzsche:: philosopher, psychologist, antichrist or something. like that is that standard N intro. Wtach some youtube lectures on other philosophers when they're mentioned by Kauffman.

If you're starting with N there's porbably a reason and it'll probably be better helped by therapy.

Don't skip the Christian or Byzantine works like this guy seems to be recommending. I made this mistake when I was an edgy atheist in undergrad, I am not a Christian now, but I'm not so edgy as I was. You are doing yourself a massive disservice to your understanding if you skip the Christian theology shit, trust me.

unironically start with plato. he states positions clearly, writes in a way that is easy to read (important especially when you are unfamiliar with the nuances of philosophy) and is foundational for most western philosophers. this will make any further reading much easier, because some argue that all of philosophy is merely a response to plato.

Augustine and Aquinas are good to throw in this mix too. Oddyssey& Bible are referenced so much that it is usually good to at least be able to spot references when you see them. It seems like a lot of work, but let me tell you... Kant is beautiful. There really isn't anything thing like sitting down and reading Kant for a few hours. The man's pen dripped with a cozy erudition while having been sharpened by a firm grasp on everyone that came before him. Plato is also a really good read. If you're gonna do pre-socs do Heraclitus and Parmenides.

Start with reading Plato's Republic. It explains a lot about government and justice which has led to many modern forms of punishment and democratic states. If you want some shorter works to give you a basis in fields of ethics (which does differentiate from philosophy), just read basic articles about simple topics such as Kantian Ethics or other basic ethical theories like Golden Mean, Deontology, Utilitarianism, etc. I personally agree with a lot of Kant's ideas and he gives a solid basis for philosophy.

I love Kant's ideas on ethics and epistemology, but for me his writing style is so fucking hard and boring. Am i just stupid or everyone thinks that is the case and learn his theories by reading/listening to someone else talking about him? Or does it maybe get better (i started reading Critique of pure reason)?

Ethics is a field of philosophy dum dum. The five fields are ethics, aesthetics, epistemology, metaphysics, and logic. They then have sub fields as well, for example ontology is a sub field of metaphysics, there is applied, meta, and normative ethics and so on for the other fields.

Wow. So many retards on this board. This book is about the NEET phenomenon, and the author is talking about how NEETs consume philosophy, not what philosophy is in general. The Problem of The Puer Aeternus is a masterpiece, one of the greatest works of literature of the 20th century.
