Don't read purely for entertainment. You'll miss out on a lot of potential knowledge you could gain if you approach literature that way. Also, 1984 isn't an awfully good book so that may also be part of your problem.

How could you feel underwhelmed by 1984? It's a popular book, but nothing like you'd expect a popular book to be. I wonder how many people have actually read it, It's very bleak and terrifying.

Probably because I've heard much about it already, i knew that it was gonna be dystopian , and. I knew that it was gonna deal with the subversion of language and stuff.
So i focused on the plot which kept being interrupted by overly long discription of what's going on in the character's head, or long paragraphs of the writer's own views on stuff.
Main girl is a thot and the torture scene gets interrupted with "metaphysics debate". , and the room 101 mystery is just "Oooh your worst fear" an idea I've seen many places before

So? I felt it more-so when I read the book than when some retarded kept saying it. It was all done very-well. If you want to read for ideas then read Schopenhauer.

I'm not saying that it's bad just that it did not évoqué strong emotion , a 7/10 but it takes 7 hours to read which is not much bang for the time bucks.
> Read Schopenhauer
I'm not smart enough.

Read Schopenhauer with a companion to Schopenhauer. A Cambridge Companion should be quite helpful for you.

I would like to , but i don't know how , books are just less entertaining to me ,i try to force my way through them, and i find them entertaining at parts but i just can't stop thinking it would be more fun when it's on screen.

What really got me into reading was Red Rising by Pierce Brown. The first three books are a very entertaining read, the most recent two are meh.
