why does the average person have such little taste in literature, film, music or art. everything is so unaesthetic these days

>Concerning yourself with the "average person"
They have been shitters for all of human history.

In Catholicism, the senses serve emotion, which serves the intellect, which serves the intuition, which serves the will.

In the renaissance, the intuition was denied, and reason could serve the will alone. But with the enlightenment, intuition was held to be an outgrowth of reason and so the higher thing was made to serve the lower thing. Then, with Romanticism, emotion was held to be the sensation of intuition, and so was evidence of a higher reason; with this, intuition served reason which served emotion. Following Romanticism came naturalism, emotion was suppressed as unreal, and with it anything that was not material; the senses served reason alone without intuition or emotion. Of course, this denied too much of man, and so did not last. Modernists reintroduced intuition, but in service to the senses, which in turn served reason. And then the post-modernists felt cold, so they re-introduced emotion as a signpost of intuition. And now we are at a stage where intuition serves reason, which serves emotion, which serves the senses. The natural hierarchy of Man's soul has been inverted. We have become slaves to our appetites.

They never had. You probably are from a middle class background and you had your nerdness and Internet in your favour.

The pure things in life are those which are aesthetically appealing. Innocence and purity are of the highest worth, yet what will our love of literature, film, music or art benefit us at the end of the day if we use such unaesthetic (profane) language? You see when Jesus was on the earth in the flesh what did the wisdom and knowledge of the wise and learned amount to them in the end when their hearts were weighed down with arrogance and stiffneckedness? It was the sick who needed him, so does the whole world today.

Sadly no, not to my knowledge. Start paying attention to narratives, and then pray to God that he reveals you to yourself as he sees you. As the lies you tell yourself become more clear, the common lies people tell themselves become more clear.
