Anons I've made up my mind to read something released this year. What's the one? Quichotte? Memory police? Recommend.

Salman Rushdie released a new novel? Good to know, thank you. Hopefully this redeems his Trump novel. That dude literally mindfucked all of my favorite aritsts into producing terrible shit.

As for 2019, I'm halfway through Serotonin, the new one by Houllebecq. It's all right.

Not released this year, but the closing volume of it will be this year. Just started Ali Smith's Autumn and its very good so far. I would recommend. It's 2015 or thereabouts.

Totally pessimistic, odly psychedelic book about abusing the peasantry amidst a plague outbreak.

What is this even?

It's Nobber! There's a village with the plague, and several different people trying to profiteer through the situation by various evil schemes. They all start betraying each other, crazy Celts run into town for obscure reasons, a dude fucks a horse, a whole section of the cast spends the book locked up in their sickness ridden houses waiting for death. It's a good time.

Don't. In fact, don't read anything from the last 10 years. everything has been hyper-politicized to shit to cover up bad writing. Either read the Classics, Medieval reading or early modern reading. Also, Salman Rushdie is overrated as fuck. Literally, the only reason people know of him is that he pissed off Muzzies with the Satanic Verses and the fatwa that was announced afterwards. Even that is only halfway decent.

I don't mind if it's about Trump, it's just that Golden House disappeared up its own ass within 3 pages, whereas Rushdie usually has the manners to wait at least 300. I read the opening paragraph and it's already an upgrade. I get the same vibe that I did with Fury; nonsensical poop written in delightfully playful prose. Rushdie is a writer's writer and Trump momentarily made him retarded.

I liked Midnight's Children and Satanic Versus but Quichotte just feels really lazy looking at the blurb. Weird giving how big Rushdie is we never really have any discussion of his books.

In what way though?
