14351869 No.14351869 [Reply] [Original]

Let us begin with an examination of the rules, restrictions and resources.

------------

/lit/ is for the discussion of literature, specifically books (fiction & non-fiction), short stories, poetry, creative writing, etc. If you want to discuss history, religion, or the humanities, go to /his/. If you want to discuss politics, go to /pol/. Philosophical discussion can go on either /lit/ or /his/, but those discussions of philosophy that take place on /lit/ should be based around specific philosophical works to which posters can refer.

Check the wiki, the catalog, and the archive before asking for advice or recommendations, and please refrain from starting new threads for questions that can be answered by a search engine.

/lit/ is a slow board! Please take the time to read what others have written, and try to make thoughtful, well-written posts of your own. Bump replies are not necessary.

-------------

We have established these things. There can be no refutation of these things because it is by their being the rules that they are the rules.

Now, let us examine the thoroughness of the application of the above rules, restrictions and resources.

what's wrong with this thread you massive retard?

why are you trying to get legitimate discussions of literature nuked?

or this one? it's a legitimate question about how to interpret a specific work of literature. take your autism to wikipedia, where it can be herded and put to use by your betters. this place may have its problems but you haphazardly and emptily naming a bunch of threads for deletion isn't helping and no one cares who you fucking think you are wearing that trip.

Your autism prevents you from keeping more than one rule in mind at a time, I guess? The Bible is a work of literature and a work of philosophy. If that OP had specifically asked about, say, Catholic or Orthodox interpretations of Luke 8:33, that MIGHT cause a discussion of religion, but more likely it'd still be just textual/literary analysis. Which is what this board is about.

You're right. I suppose you convincingly raise reasonable doubt concerning that one thread among over two hundre- awww, that's too bad. No, you don't. At least you tried, though! That's worth something, and don't let anyone tell you that it isn't!

this is why you should fuck off to Wikipedia where people better than you can keep you in line. you don't know enough about this topic to criticize it.

I know exactly what belongs on /lit/.
Literary discussion of religious works is welcome. Religious ("philosophical", as you have chosen to put it) discussion of religious works does not belong here and is welcome on /his/.

Someone hasn't read pic related.

>I know exactly what belongs on /lit/.
That may be, but that's not my question. I doubt your ability to determine which threads belong on /lit/ because evidently you think interpreting a passage from the greatest book ever written equals religious discussion. OP was not asking for religious opinion. Ergo the thread stays, and you can gtfo for being a retard.

You're right. I haven't read that work. This is because I specifically only read books (fiction & non-fiction), short stories, poetry, creative writing, etc. Of which - religious scholasticism is not a component.

Let it be known, of course, that I am *aware* that I am arguing with a zealot. It must be stressed that this and its details is and are of little or no consequence to the point of the original post.
