No, he was just writing works of transcendental-materialist apophatic theology.

Reddit faggots with PTSD from overdosing on Cthulhu memes and plush pillows when they were 13 coming here to signal they're better than Lovecraft now have no place in America or in this world

its meant to be somewhat mystical, how you you describe something that has no words in any human language to describe? I think Lovecraft harnesses this literary device poorly but i dont think its necessarily a cop out (although Lovecraft comes across as that frequently)

>> No.14400783

Lovecraft's horror really comes from the buildup. It's kind of like the bible in that. The road leading to the promethean horror is lined with old dystopic towns and cities where the people themselves are inhuman or sociopathic in their ways. The more the protag delves into the mystery, the worse things get. Once the paranormal bits leak in, you don't question them because the people and places associated are so foreign and ugly. By the time the protag encounters the cthulhu monster, the horror is mostly imaged by the reader.

Or Lovecraft is just a mentally challenged edgelord who is praised by other mentally challenged edgelords

that kind of horror only works as a slow burn, when done right it can be very effective. In i believe it was "The Color Out of Space" where a "New Color" of sorts is described. This its self is titillating as it is impossible to imagine.

I don't have much, just The King in Yellow, that Lovecraft book, Lost Worlds by Clark Ashton Smith and The White People and Other Weird Stories. I mostly have gothic and "normal" horror books, like the ones on the picture.

the tiara, which the narrator of The Shadow Over Innsmouth sees in the library during the story's first section, is described in great detail through both positive qualities like texture, color, shape, likeness, and through negative, of absent, qualities as "a kind of tiara" that cannot be readily compared to. Lovecraft is an excellent descriptor. He can use both present and absence to give images life, while often indulging in that stupid Victorian over-detailing of locations and clothes for characters.
