Conversationality for the mundane descriptions and then finer prose for the more transcendental stuff. I find I also enjoy writers that are more positive in their descriptions of the world, even when they're describing dark things it's reflected in a positive light.

Don't think about how you're writing while you're writing, it slows you down as if it was a physical barrier. Concern yourself only with getting the point across and successfully communicating your thoughts and feelings. If you're not sure what it is you want to communicate, then that's what your issue is, not your capacity to write.
