What nonsense. If we're talking about the history of ideas, this conception is obviously untrue. Do you think that Plato wrote the Republic because he wanted to write a really cool dialogue? No! It was for his students. The same applies for inventions. Do you think that whomever it is that invented paper did it for fun? He invented it presumably on behalf of his patrons - I believe paper was invented independently in various places but I doubt any of them had heroic individuals who tirelessly laboured for their own sake.

The formation of the brain is a collective process. Society teaches you how to think and what to think. Even this film is a result of a collective process, and what we're doing here is a social activity.
