If you have a basic understanding of Freud I recommend getting into Lacan.
Looking Awry by Slavoj Zizek is the best way imo. He makes it very entertaining by referring to popular culture (like books and cinema) to explain many of Lacans main ideas.

It is a desire that is very difficult to articulate in everyday life, because of social norms we have to repress it (basically in psychoanalysis this social norm pressure is the superego). I am not ashamed to admit that my mothers often appears with sexual connotations.
I really dont know how to explain this dreams, that I and many other people with healthy relationships with their mom have, without using the Psychoanalytical framework.
